PCA
Petra Crown Academics, LLC, based in Lake Elmo, Minnesota, was founded in 2007 by individuals dedicated to experiential learning and study abroad. The mission of the organization centers around the notion of providing high quality, affordable Arabic immersion and Middle East studies programs in Jordan and (eventually) neighboring states. Professor Abdalla Battah, PCA's executive director, has extensive background and experience in study abroad. He travels to Jordan during the summer to personally administer our flagship immersion program at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST). In this he is assisted by our in-country staff as well as program faculty and staff from JUST.
In addition to our intensive Arabic immersion programs, we offer the following services:
- Assistance to universities and colleges in setting up their own, faculty-led program in Jordan or neighboring Arab states. Possible subject areas include Middle East politics, Arab culture, religion, archaeology, refugees, Arab politics, Arab-Israel conflict, women, globalization. We can work directly with faculty members.
- Assistance to universities and colleges in developing faculty development programs abroad focused on topics related to the Middle East.
- Assistance to school districts in development of faculty development programs abroad focused on topics related to the Middle East.
- Povision of 2-4 week study tour programs.
- Assistance to personnel of diplomatic missions in Jordan by arranging special Arabic language programs and tutoring services.
- Assistance to independent researchers at all levels in arranging for meetings with government officials, members of the media, and scholars in Jordan as well in arranging for housing and other logistical matters.
